On Monday, July 11th, JETAA Chicago will have its monthly board meeting.
The meeting’s location is to be confirmed, so pencil the date in your diary. We will be talking about membership census, the last of out outgoing JET initiatives, collaborations with other Japanese related organizations and our upcoming events in August and September.
Plus there will be a nomikai afterwards.
For those unable to attend in person, please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to call or video into the meeting. We have successfully had call-ins, Google Hangouts, and Skype-ins in past meetings. Don’t hesitate to let us know you’d like to do that.
Our meetings are open to any and all JET Alumni. Dinner is provided to all who attend. Let us know if you have any food allergies or avoidances.
Email email@example.com with any questions or any items you would like to add to the agenda. RSVP on our Facebook Event page as well please!
Join JETAA Chicago on a fun and educational trip to the Japanese grocery story Mitsuwa. Outgoing JETs & alumni are encouraged to join us for a Japanese grocery scavenger hunt, paired with recipes for cooking in Japan! We will introduce basic grocery items and recipes that will help for survival in Japan. At the end, we will check out their Japanese food court.
This is event is free of charge. Please RSVP by Thursday, July 7.
If are taking public transportation, the PACE 606 bus from the Rosemont CTA Blue Line station drops off right in front of Mitsuwa. If you have a car, consider carpooling – good for the environment and for your karma.
Questions? Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. See you there!
For July the reading group will read the short story “Tasogare” by Miekichi Suzuki: http://www.kurodahan.com/mt/e/khpprize/2016prize.pdf
The Kurodahan Press is using the story for their 2016 translation contest. The deadline isn’t until September, but it will be fun to read it together and everyone can produce their own version. It would be awesome if the winner came from JETAA Chicago!
The story text and information about the contest is included in the PDF linked above. Visit the Facebook Event page to RSVP.
