JETAA Chicago is proud to present the 11th annual New Year’s Shinnenkai Culture Festival! Joins us as we celebrate the Year of the Horse! This celebration of Japanese culture promises to be a great opportunity to meet others who are interested in Japan. We are excited to announce that there will be a LIVE koto and shamisen performance this year!
Come enjoy Japanese appetizers and beer, wine, and soft drinks. We will feature traditional arts and crafts including: calligraphy, origami, and ema (good luck) plaques. Challenge your friends in a trivia tournament or a game of karuta (picture matching game). Don’t forget about the $1 Janken Contest, where you can win the cash prize and be crowned the rock, paper, scissors Champion!
Raffle prizes include two tickets to the March 5th Kyary Pamyu Pamyu concert at the House of Blues, tickets to the Field Museum, MSI, and Chicago Flower & Garden Show, gift certificates to local businesses, Japanese themed treats and treasures and more! All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to It’s Not Just Mud, a Tohoku based charity helping with relief efforts around the world, including the recent earthquake in the Philippines.
